02-01-2006, 11:42 AM Tribute to M.D.K! 1st and 2nd game here First of all here is part 1 of Murder Death Kill ![]() You play Kurt, an androgynous, leather-armor clad, leaping, action figure with a machine gun hermetically sealed to his wrist. The third-person perspective shows the action from above and behind, a la Tomb Raider, with the action taking place in about fifty-five different settings - mostly large, wide-open locations which make a ********************************************************ing change from the confining corridors of Duke, Doom, Quake, and the rest. The variety of the wild 3D graphics and colors create a continual sense of amazement and wonder. You'll encounter locations from the ethereal or surreal to the gritty or pastel, with reflective surfaces, translucent walls, and gorgeous backdrops. The bad guys are all true 3D, and most have a similar, ********************************llic look, but their actions and tactics vary, giving you plenty of diversity. Unlike other shooters, you will not gradually accumulate a cache of super-duper bazookas and shrink rays. Typically you'll locate a weapon and use it up in whatever situation you face at the time. The weapons can be downright goofy: The World's Most Interesting Bomb stupefies and transfixes any enemy within sight; The Tornado which acts like a food processor run amok; and The Thumper is a giant hammer that pummels anything within range. You can also call in a bomber strike flown by your dog. Download Password : Surreal Important!: Game needs to be extracted to c:\mdk. If you extract it elsewhere, you have to manually edit mdk.cfg file and enter the directory it is residing in. NOTE: You will have to run this game in Windows, by using the MDK95.exe file. Be careful NOT to press the Windows key while playing the game, as you will have no way of getting back into the game. This is not the game's fault, since keyboards didn't have a Windows key back then. Also, the game is runable in DOSBox, but you will have to have an incredibly fast machine. If you want to use DOSBox, then use the MDK.exe file. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And here is M.D.K part 2 ![]() MDK 2 begins just moments after the end of the first game. Mad scientist Dr. Hawkins, his janitor and reluctant superhero Kurt, and the six-legged robotic dog Max are aboard their spaceship celebrating their defeat of extraterrestrial madman Gunter Glut. The ship's computer informs them that a second alien warship has been spotted threatening Edmonton, Alberta, and Kurt is once again forced to don his battle suit and wage a one-man war against the alien menace. Virtually every level ends with an epic battle against a huge, multistage boss character. MDK 2 features what has to be among the best 3D translations to date of the intense boss battles from classic coin-op and console side-scrolling action shooters. ![]() The original MDK's levels generally consisted of giant environments connected by tight corridors. BioWare has retained this general structure but has developed its own rendering engine for the sequel. The open areas are now even bigger. Some are truly enormous and appear to stretch on forever. As in MDK, the game's visuals are simultaneously both gloomy and lightheartedly surreal, like a dystopian version of Dr. Seuss' Whoville. One of the biggest incentives to beat each level is simply to experience the next strange, spectacular vista.
